Just in time for summer reading, every first and second grader at Simpson-Waverly School in Hartford received a signed hardcover book last week, thanks to a donation by Metayer Bonding in Avon. Written by Farmington-based children’s book author and Courant columnist Teresa Pelham, “Roxy and Her Annoying Little Brother, Stuey” tells a silly story of Pelham’s two little brown rescue dogs. Metayer, who said he has “a soft spot for kids and dogs” greeted all students as they received their books. Students also had the opportunity to cuddle with Roxy, a certified therapy dog and star of Pelham’s two books, proceeds of which go to dog rescue groups.
